Dakar Fashion Week 2026 Fundraiser

My latest collection, "With Love from Detroit to Dakar" is the culmination of a heart that yearns to merge African and African American artistry. I am Black, I am African, I am Afro-Indigenous, I am immigrant, I am a descendant of the formerly enslaved, I am African American, I am Pan African, I am Afro-Caribbean, I am Black... Black... Blackity Black in all its glorious forms. With joy, pride, and culture at the forefront this collection is about merging worlds, emotional and cultural expression and reclaiming stolen parts of our identity.

Out of hundreds of applications, I have been selected as a featured designer for Dakar Fashion Week 2026, in Dakar, Senegal. December 1st to 6th 2026. This year is the 25th anniversary show.

I need your help to make this dream a reality!

For 25 years Dakar Fashion Week has maintained an unwavering commitment to merging high end African design with grassroots community spaces, unconventional runways, and a bold commitment to sustainability. It was created to give African designers the global visibility they deserve.

One of my favorite things about Dakar Fashion Week is their understanding that fashion isn’t just something you wear. It is deeply ingrained in who you are and how you show up in your community. Their annual "Street Show" highlights this incredible commitment to inclusivity. One of its most famous traditions is a free, public runway staged right in working class neighborhoods like Niary Tally, bringing high fashion out of exclusive hotels and directly into everyday community life.

It is an amazing Pan African celebration and collaboration that units designers from Senegal, Mali, Côte d'Ivoire, Nigeria, Gabon, Namibia, DETROIT and beyond to celebrate Black beauty, Black leadership, and self-defined African style.

Senegal isn’t just one of the Africa’s fashion capitals, it’s arguably one the most creative and diverse fashion platforms in the world! Renowned for its commitment to craftsmanship fusing tradition and modernity to create unimaginable cohesion.
