Fashion Design Fellowship
Think Project Runway meets Art Therapy! ONLY 6 designers will be chosen to participate. The goal is to build a collection focused on Designing with Mindfulness, to give yourself the opportunity to explore and express powerful and moving emotions through your clothing collection. This is a fashion design fellowship in which we explore our internal world as a source of inspiration.

Each designer will be challenged to create a their look or 6 piece collection based on the book of their choosing.
Course Details
My mission is to introduce you to a different way of designing; one that pulls from an emotional place. Enabling you to process your emotions through sewing. I produce my best work when I'm entrenched in the safety of my own feelings. Using this art form to sit with and process my emotions rather than judge and amplify negative feelings.

PREREQUISITE: Students must demonstrate an intermediate level sewing proficiency.
WHAT’S INCLUDED: After 5 months you'll celebrate your graduation by showcasing your 7 look, 7 to 20 piece collection. The workshop cost include weekly in person sessions, custom sewing patterns for your entire collection, Graduation/Fashion show fees, and 50% off any fabric purchased in studio. You will walk away with a toolkit of customized healthy coping skills, a loving and supportive cohort of Sew Sisters, a 565 page sewing techniques reference guide* and the vulnerability to allow your brand/ personal style serve as a mechanism to tell your story.
HOMEWORK: Students will have weekly homework that may include journaling/reflective soul work, practicing technical sewing skills, reading assignments and/or progressive work for designs/collection.
DURATION: Emerging Designers - 8 Weeks - 24hrs. Fellowship - 18 Weeks - 60hrs, Classes meet in person once a week for 3 hours each session.
LOCATION: 4917 Schaefer Rd, Suit 200 Dearborn, MI 48126 - Entrance and parking in the rear.
This robust design program will elevate your sewing skills and creative expression; as you learn about Personal Branding, Digital Pattern Design, Sleeve Manipulation, Corset Design and Construction, Drafting and Manipulating Collars, Circle Skirts, Flounces and Ruffles!
Design and Sew 10 to 14 pieces for a 7 look Collection
Conceptualize and Identify the intricate pieces of the sewing pattern and how to adjust for a Tailored Fit, Structural Elements, Voluminous Designs and Unique Style Lines.
Learn the Slash and Spread Technique for Pattern Drafting and Manipulation.
Learn how to insert desired hardware including Boning, Underwire, Snaps, Loops, Rivets, Invisible, Lapped and Exposed Zippers,
Insert Horsehair Trim, French Seams, Blind Hem Stitch, Welt Pockets and other luxurious finishing techniques as required for desired designs.
FELLOWSHIP SESSION DATES: Saturday, April 4th to - August 8th (NO Class July 18th) - COST: $1350
EMERGING DESIGNERS SESSION DATES: Saturday, June 13th to - August 8th (NO Class July 18th) - COST: $450
GRADUATION GALA: August 9th 2025 (tentative)
