NO PRIOR SEWING EXPERIERECE REQUIRED!
For this program we’ve blended our love of sustainable fashion with mindful practices that are focused on helping our students in areas of creativity, confidence, problem solving and brain development.
Confidence: Children develop healthy sense of pride and confidence when they complete a project and get to walk out wearing their creations!
Problem-solving: We put those critical thinking skills to use! Students will plan and execute their project designs and learn how to problem solve as accidents/mistakes occur. To think critically and develop solutions students are encouraged to think outside the box, get experimental in the design process by trying new things and make changes on the fly.
Brain health: The focus and mental stamina needed to complete projects can greatly aid brain develop.

Meet your instructor:
Gi’ana Horsley
Gi'ana started at Sew Modest Studio when she earned a full tuition scholarship to the Summer Camp program in 2022. After graduating out of the program she began working as our apprentice and is now leading our Kids Sewing Department! Which is amazing since she herself started sewing at just 10 years old and now she is able to help our young sewists bring their fashion dreams to reality. Even though she is young she has incredible talent and has been working tremendously to develop her skills and passion. She's living proof that there is no age requirement for becoming a skilled couturier. Her talent, work and dedication are evident in all her creations. Prior to starting with Sew Modest Studio she took a couple of sewing classes at her high school. Gi'ana currently runs a custom design business in which she creates corsets, prom and special event gowns for clients.
